MLA Sunil Tingre Inaugurates Don Bosco Sports Fest PUNE,NOV 22 : The Annual Sports Festival of Don Bosco Highschool and Jr. College was inaugurated at the hands of the newly elected local MLA Mr. Sunil Tingre as the Chief Guest of the programme today. The grand inaugural ceremony started as the Chief Guest arrived along with other guests of honour. The Chief Guest accepted the salute of the disciplined march past of the four houses. The school band then paid a musical tribute to welcome the dignitories showing their band skills. The school sports flag was hoisted at the hands of the chief guest, who also lit the sports torch. The Sports Person's oath was given to everyone which further led to the sports person's prayer. THE Chief Guest then declared the sports festival OPENED. On this occasion, the newly constructed pavilion stand was also inaugurated at the hands of Mr.Tingre. In his inspiring speech, MLA Tingre said, " It is the first of its kind of grand sports festival I've ever attended. It has taken me back to my school days memories." He further added, "While most of the schools are pushing their students into the academic race of studies, it's really great to see DON BOSCO school organising such a grand sports festival for it's students. Sports must be given immense importance and value in the school education as DON BOSCO SCHOOL rightly does." He wholeheartedly thanked the school authorities for honouring him by inviting as the Chief Guest. The different groups of school and college section presented a variety of displays including Lezim, Karate, Aerobics, Floats, Zumba etc. The Principal Fr. Bosco D'mello welcomed all the dignitories and congratulated all the students and teachers for the successful organisation of the festival. Fr.Bosco also proposed vote of thanks. The festival continued through the day with more than 40 athletic and ground events. The prize distribution for the event winners was being held after each event. The closing ceremony of the Sports fest took place towards the end of the day. The Chief Guests for the closing ceremony were Subhedar Datta Jaybhaye(International Marathon Champion) and Subhedar Prakash C. (International Swimming Coach) from the Army Sports Institute. Compiling the points of all the events b the Blue house grabbed the title of 'Champion of Champions' in school section, whereas Green House achieved the same in Jr. college section. THE individual and team prizes were distributed at the hands of the Chief Guests. At the concluding ceremony, extinguishing of the Sports torch and lowering of the Sports flag was held at the hands of the Chief Guests who also declared the sports festival CLOSED. The Rector Fr Michael Bansode, Administrator Fr Thomas Chellissory, Youth Director Fr.Evangelo, Supervisors of all the sections, teachers, PTA members, parents and students were present at the occasion. ......Report by PRASHANT GAIKWAD
