PATRIOTIC FEVER OF R-DAY AT DON BOSCO

PUNE, JAN.26 : The 70th Republic Day of the nation was celebrated with great joy and patriotic fever at DON BOSCO today. The Guard of Honour escorted the Chief Guest and other dignitories to the stage. Our unique tradition of honouring the parents of the topper student as the Chief guest was continued this year as well. The parents of Master Jagdish Sutar(XII) were the Chief Guest of the ceremony. The ceremony began with the flag hoisting at the hands of Mr.Sutar, followed by the national anthem.

The chief guest was then felicitated and welcomed by the Principal Rev.Fr. Bosco D’mello. The programme continued with the cultural tribute on the occasion of Republic Day through their class assembly. The students of VIII-C presented a dance describing the plight of the farmers in India. A mime act was also presented showcasing a glimpse of the current social issues. Ms. Angelina Nair(VIII) delivered a speech in English highlighting the significance of the festival, while, Shruti Mane(IX) served the same purpose through her speech in Marathi. It was followed by one more patriotic dance that won the hearts of the audience.

The academic prize distribution to the class toppers of Std. V to XII followed immediately after the cultural programme. Students were felicitated at the hands of the Chief Guest Mr.Sutar, the Rector Rev.Fr. Michael Bansode and the Principal Rev.Fr. Bosco D’mello. In his meaningful and inspiring speech, Fr.Michael said, “Whatever we want to do, we must begin it from ourself, from our home, from our school.” His message was : “Always keep your parents and your teachers as the most important people in your life.” Master Jagdish Sutar(HSC Topper) in his message said “ The formula of my success is hunger for achieving success, healthy, yet tough competitors to draw out your best and self-belief to face every challenge of life. I advise you to follow the same and you will never fail in your life.”

The school band played the melodious tunes of the national anthem as well as a patriotic number ‘Saare Jahan se Achcha….’

The Principal Fr.Bosco D’mello proposed the vote of thanks. Master Karan Ranpise and Ms.Utkarsha Alhat compered the programme.
