THINKING DAY AT DON BOSCO PUNE

‘Thinking Day’ is the most awaited day of the year for every scout and guide as it is also celebrated as the World Scout-Guide Day, globally. Don Bosco high school also observed this day through various events. The significance and joy of the day was multiplied as it was accompanied with the Annual Scout-Guide camp for two days, here at Don Bosco.

            World Scout-Guide day is celebrated all over the world to mark the contribution of Lord Baden Powell to the Scouting movement.  At Don Bosco the celebration began with the Flag break ceremony by the Scout-Guide Colour Party and at the hands of the Chief Guest Mr. Dineshkumar Pande, Master Trainer and Hon. Member, Pune Bharat Scout Guide. Guide Tanmani Karne delivered a speech on the movement and Lord Baden Powell. The scouts and guides of the Pravesh batch were invested at the hands of  the chief guest and Fr. Principal Rev. Fr. Bosco D’mello. Addressing the gathering, the chief guest said, “Every Scout and Guide is the backbone of the scouting movement. We all must aim at becoming the ideal citizens of the nation.” He also declared the inauguration of the 2 days’ Annual Scout Guide camp. Fr.Principal proposed the vote of thanks.

The next part of the celebration was the proceedings of the camp. It was for the first time in the history of DB, Pune that an overnight camp for Scouts and Guides was organised. 200 scouts and guides from Std. VII, VIII, IX participated in the camp. The participants of BOSCOREE 2018 co-ordinated the complete camp under the guidance of Fr. Principal, Camp Chief Prashant Gaikwad, Nayana Gamare, Deepti Panpatil, Madan Nair, Manisha Ahire, Ashish Patare, Nancy Pillay and William Salvi.

            The camp schedule was full of a variety of activities, sessions, games and a lot more. The campers participated, learnt and enjoyed the Drawing & Painting Competition, Session on First Aid, Grand Community Dinner, Cultural Dance Competition, Campfire, Friendship Games, Tent decoration & Gadgets Competition, Session on Knots & Lashings, Colour Party Competition, Pioneering Project etc. The campers were really amazed to enjoy the BP-6 exercise at 5.30 am along with a little work out. The most thrilling part of the camp was the Adventure games organised for the campers. They enjoyed them a lot. The camp concluded with the Valedictory function declaring the results and prizes for the various competitions held during the camp. At the apex of the programme was the lowering of the camp flag and the words of thankfulness and gratitude.
