DANCE COMPETITION
"INDIA'S GOLDEN HERITAGE"
 
On Friday, July 14, 2023, Don Bosco Higher Secondary School(Jr. College) organised an enjoyable Inter-House Solo Dance Competition with the theme Culture: Celebrating Our Country's Golden Heritage. There were eight talented contestants, two from each of the four houses (Red, Blue, Yellow, and Green). Three distinguished judges, Ms. Vibha Bhatt, Ms. Maya Sharma and Ms. Sneha Agarwal, experts in a specific dance style, graced the event with their invaluable presence.
The day began on an incredible note, as the escorts, dressed in traditional attire depicting various Indian states, and the spirited lezim team, led the ever-active Rector and Director of Senior College - Rev. Fr. Crispino D'Souza, the ever-smiling Asst. Director of Senior College - Fr. Joe Braganza, and the young and energetic judges, in a solemn procession to the stage.
The Junior College choir gave the distinguished judges a warm welcome with a melodious welcome song. Tr. Anjali David introduced the judges and Fr. Crispino, Fr. Joe and Sir Leo D'Souza, the Junior College Supervisor felicitated the judges. The organisers of the event, the Yellow House, warmed the audience with their rocking performance - This happens only in India.
The eight participants highlighted India's rich and diverse cultural heritage through their breath-taking performances. The audience was enthralled and thoroughly enjoyed each performance. Ms.Sneha Agarwal spoke on pursuing one's dreams with passion and rising above setbacks. She encouraged the students to honour culture, educators, and elders. While Ms. Maya Sharma gracefully performed a Rajasthani folk dance - Ghoomar, and finally Ms. Vibha Bhatt inspired the students with a new burst of enthusiasm as she led them in a lively Zumba dance.
Fr. Crispino appreciated the participants and complimented the audience for their discipline. He declared the result and presented the trophies to the winners of the Solo Dance competition. Ms. Alfiya Makandar (First - Red House), Ms. Soni Yadav (Second - Blue House), and Catherine Anthony (Third - Red House) were overjoyed with their achievements. Sir Leo declared Std. XII Com. A, the winner of the noticeboard competition and the quiz on St. Dominic Savio. Fr. Joe presented the trophies and congratulated the class.
Tr. Saritha Patki proposed the vote of thanks and especially thanked the Yellow House teachers - Tr. Pearl Fernandes, Tr. Anjali David, and Tr. Rajshree Ovhal - for their efforts in making the event a great success. Finally, the Junior College choir sang the College anthem. The students thoroughly enjoyed the day as they cherished India's rich cultural heritage.
